MCC Workforce Development Efforts Recognized

The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program recently highlighted various aspects of Monroe Community College’s workforce development efforts in The Workforce Playbook, which describes community colleges that are working to ensure success for diverse students in an evolving labor market.

MCC’s strong partnerships with employers and its data-driven approach to developing middle-skills careers – those requiring more than a high school degree, but less than a bachelor’s – were identified as strengths for both students and employers in the region.

$3.75 million HRSA Grant Awarded to URMC for Geriatric Workforce Education

URMC's Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program was awarded $3.75 million in Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funding to train the health care workforce in principles of geriatrics to improve health outcomes for older adults. The grant will also fund specific training and education for Alzheimer's Disease and dementias for patients, families and caregivers. The Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center will also expand its service area from a 17-county Finger Lakes region by adding 8 primarily rural counties surrounding Rochester and Syracuse.
