Federal funding opportunity: DOL Nursing Expansion Grant Program

This funding opportunity will address bottlenecks in training the United States nursing workforce and expand and diversify the pipeline of qualified nursing professionals through two training tracks.

  1. The Nurse Education Professional Track will increase the number of clinical and vocational nursing instructors and educators by training new or upskilling experienced current or former nurses (including retired nurses) into advanced postsecondary credentialing necessary for nurses to become clinical and vocational nursing instructors and educators.
  2. The Nursing Career Pathway Track will train frontline health care professionals and paraprofessionals, including direct care workers, to advance along a career pathway and attain postsecondary credentials needed for middle- to high-skilled nursing occupations during the grant period of performance. Through the Nursing Career Pathway Track, grantees will develop training partnerships between clinical settings and education and training providers to support accelerated learning and expanded access to clinical residencies and specialty care rotations.

The application deadline is Jan. 6, 2023. Click here for the full grant notice.

Health home care managers make a difference

A recent data review by Greater Rochester Health Home Network (GRHHN), an affiliate of FLPPS, and Lead Health Homes across New York state demonstrates their impact on the health and well-being of the individuals they serve across NYS.

The infographics above illustrate the significant impact that the GRHHN network of care managers have by connecting individuals to primary care and assisting individuals who were homeless to secure, safe, and stable housing.

These outcomes are critical to addressing health inequities within the Finger Lakes region and ensuring access to health care services.
