Upcoming Webinar: Keeping Older Healthcare Workers Engaged

Cornell University's Yang-Tan Institute on Employment and Disability will share the results of their survey of employment-related decision-making among older healthcare professionals. The webinar will also provide information for employers for improving work experiences and job tenure of older workers to help address gaps in numbers of healthcare professionals and the growing need for older workers' expertise. The webinar will take place from 12:00 to 12:45 pm on Dec. 4.

2019 Home Care Agency Recruitment and Retention Survey

The Center for Health Workforce Studies based at the School of Public Health at SUNY Albany is conducting a 2019 recruitment and retention survey for home care agencies. Survey responses are due Dec. 20.

2018 New York Residency Training Outcomes

The Center for Health Workforce Studies has published their report of responses to the 2018 New York Resident Exit Survey. Key findings from the study include: 

  • 51% of new physicians trained in NY plan to practice medicine out of state. Top reasons for leaving NY include: proximity to family (29%), better salary outside of NY (17%) and better jobs in desired locations (10%).
  • Only 18% of new physicians reported plans to practice in a Health Professional Shortage Area.
