Karen Gsellmeier, LMSW

Karen Gsellmeier provides social work support and guidance for care managers working with high risk patients with medical and psychosocial needs. She helps care managers navigate supports and resources in their county, and provides education to the care managers on interventions, screenings, systems, and referrals. She assists the care managers with complex cases, helping them to break down barriers in healthcare and increase patient education and motivation for recovery. In addition, Gsellmeier works with community providers to help address the gaps in care and services in the various communities.

Gsellmeier brings more than 8 years of experience working in behavioral health, both in the community and in a hospital setting. Most recently, she worked with patients with traumatic brain injuries on the Medicaid Waiver program, helping them to obtain services necessary to remain safe in the community. Gsellmeier holds a Master of Social Work from the State University of New York and Nazareth College Collaborative MSW Program, and obtained her license in 2013.

Gsellmeier published "The Impact of Marital Status and Gender on Leisure Values of Older Adults," in the journal Activities, Adaptation and Aging, Vol. 39, Issue 3.
