Director of Communications

Julio Saenz manages the agency’s external and internal communications and supervises a team of communications specialists. He also ensures the development of integrated, strategic communications that advance the organization’s mission, vision and brand.

Saenz offers more than 18 years of experience in journalism, public relations, marketing and organizational leadership. He previously served as corporate communications manager for Western NY at Avangrid, where he managed external and internal communications for Rochester Gas & Electric (RG&E) and New York State Electric and Gas Corporation (NYSEG).

Before that, Saenz served as chief communications and development officer at the Ibero-American Action League. In this role, he managed the team responsible for public relations, events and fundraising. Saenz also is an adjunct professor at RIT’s School of Communications.

Active in the community, he serves on the boards of WXXI Public Broadcasting and the Little Theatre Film Society; United Way Latino Leadership Development Program, Executive Jíbaritos Latino Professional Networking Group; and with the alumni chapter of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.

Julio Saenz earned his master’s degree in Strategic Marketing from Roberts Wesleyan College and his bachelor’s degree in International Relations with a minor in Mass Communications from Florida International University. His hobbies include genealogy, writing and playing guitar.
