Population Projections for 2040 by Age Group

Finger Lakes Region

This chart displays population projections for the year 2040 for the Finger Lakes region by age group, as well as the percent change from 2015 to 2040. Percent change shows an anticipated decrease in overall residents within the region, with those aged 0-64 driving that decrease. However, an increase is expected in the number of older adults, and the 85+ population is projected to double in size. This shift in population could present additional workforce and caregiving challenges when it comes to serving the older adult population within the Finger Lakes region. This data visualization is part of the Sage II Commission Report.
