Older Adult Population by Race and Ethnicity

Finger Lakes Region

This chart displays the populations of older adults (aged 65+) who identify as either Hispanic or Latino, Black non-Hispanic, White non-Hispanic, or Other non-Hispanic as a trend from 1990 to 2020.  In 1990, the Hispanic or Latino, Black non-Hispanic and Other non-Hispanic populations combined represented 3.1% of older adults within the region, whereas in 2020 they represented 9.7%. As the population ages, the older adult population within the region is becoming more diverse; this indicates a need for older adult service providers to ensure that services, information and outreach are culturally and linguistically relevant.
