Heart Disease among Older Adults

Finger Lakes Region

This chart is based on BRFSS survey data and displays the percentage of older adults in the Finger Lakes who have ever been told that they have heart disease. The "18+" bar enables a comparison of the older adults to the overall adult population. When compared to the 18+ population, the percentage of adults aged 65-74 with heart disease is nearly double, and is over quadrupled for the 75+ population.  According to the National Institute on Aging, heart disease is a major cause of disability that limits activity and diminishes quality of life.
