Caregiving by Income

Finger Lakes and Western New York Region (2021)

This chart is based on Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) survey data to estimate the share of the population that provided regular care for a family member or friend with a health problem in the past 30 days. Across the Finger Lakes and Western New York regions, one in five adults report being a caregiver. The estimates show that individuals with lower income are more likely to be caregivers, although this pattern is not statistically significant with a 95% confidence threshold.
