Caregiving by Sex

Finger Lakes and Western New York Region (2021)

This chart is based on Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) survey data to estimate the share of the population by sex that provided regular care for a family member or friend with a health problem in the past 30 days. Across the Finger Lakes and Western New York regions, one in five adults report being a caregiver. When taking a closer look at the data by sex, it is notable that women are more likely than men to identify as caregivers.
