![]() Health CareWorkforce UpdatesMarch 2021Health care workforce survey update Preliminary analysis from our health care workforce survey conducted in late 2020 has revealed critical training needs including cultural responsiveness, relationship building and addressing social determinants of health. A full report of the survey findings will be available later this year. We will use the survey data to inform the training and professional development opportunities shared in this newsletter. Employees' basic needs, including child care, were identified as an emerging area of focus in the survey. With the passage of the American Rescue Plan, we encourage employers to educate their staff on benefits such as the expanded child care tax credit. An online calculator is available from Kiplinger to help people learn about their expected benefits. New York State paid COVID vaccine leave On March 12 Governor Cuomo signed new legislation requiring New York employers to provide employees with paid time off to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. This paid leave can be used if an employee needs to take time away from work to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Employees are eligible for up to 4 hours of paid leave per injection. Implementing diversity, equity and inclusion organizational strategies webinar The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is offering Colors of Success: Policy, Practice, and the Realities of Implementing DEI Organizational Strategies on April 13, at 11 AM. This introductory series on diversity, equity and inclusion aims to inform and encourage organizations to improve workplace equity. HRSA dental faculty repayment program Applications are being accepted through April 19, 2021 for HRSA's Dental Faculty Loan Repayment Program. The purpose of this program is to increase the number of dental and dental hygiene faculty in the workforce by assisting dental and dental hygiene training programs to attract and retain faculty through loan repayment. Eligible entities are programs of general, pediatric, or public health dentistry in public or private nonprofit dental or dental hygiene schools, or approved residency or advanced education programs in the practice of general, pediatric, or public health dentistry.
