African-American Population

New York Finger Lakes Region (2015)

The table shows how the African-American population is distributed across the 9-county Finger Lakes region. Blacks are heavily concentrated in Monroe County, where 86 percent of the region’s African-Americans live. The city of Rochester is home to 52 percent of the African-Americans in the Finger Lakes region. Chemung County has the second-largest population, centered in Elmira.

The data for this analysis are from the nine Finger Lakes counties of Chemung, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates.
